Big Bags for Industrial Applications

When it comes to bags, there are plenty of styles to choose from. There are totes, cross-bodies and buckets, but arguably the most versatile are large bags. These are the juggernauts of the accessories world, able to hold everything from laptops and cosmetics to books and reformer pilates kits. As such, they’re the perfect addition to any wardrobe—and this season, it seems like the pendulum is swinging towards those Godzilla-vs.-Kong-sized holdalls and tote bags we’ve been dreaming of.

The trend was first championed by the likes of Hailey Bieber, Sydney Sweeney and Zoe Kravitz, who’ve all been spotted toting massive, can-fit-the-universe tote bags from Saint Laurent (and we say death to teeny cute bags that can only fit a credit card and your AirPods). But it’s not just celebrities jumping on the bandwagon; the trend is picking up steam at fashion houses too. This season, brands such as Loewe, Celine and Saint Laurent have all pushed larger, roomier shapes.

While oversized bags are becoming increasingly common in the fashion space, they’re not new to industrial use. Rugged woven big bags have long been standard equipment in industries like chemical, mining or food where large quantities of materials need to be transported and stored.

When you’re dealing with a big bag, it needs to be able to stand up to the elements and be durable enough to withstand transport. This is why it’s important to select the right materials and designs when selecting a big bag. FIBCs are available in polypropylene, woven polyethylene and polyvinyl chloride, each of which offers its own advantages in terms of durability, resistance to chemicals and temperature variations.

Choosing the right big bag for your industrial application will depend on its intended usage and loading/unloading process. You’ll want to consider factors like weight, dimensions, material, construction and the handling and lifting requirements. It’s also essential to ensure that your FIBC is correctly loaded and secured. The loading of a big bag is done through an outlet, which can be either a classic open-top opening or a closed skirt with filling spout or channel.

To ensure your FIBC can be safely lifted, it’s best to use a hook, forklift or bar with rounded edges that have a minimum radius of 5 millimeters. Additionally, it’s important to only use a lifting mechanism that can handle the full capacity of your big bag.

It’s also important to properly dispose of your FIBC after use. You’ll want to recycle it, as it can be turned into a new raw material or repurposed for another use. This will help to reduce disposal/incineration costs and create a more sustainable model of production. დიდი ჩანთები
